For the final issue of Asian Geographic Junior magazine, I wrote an article for the Science Seeker section on distinguishing insects from other classes of bugs.
The challenge, as always with magazines aimed at kids, is to explain concepts clearly, but keep the content lively and interesting without getting technical.
Relearning basic animal biology is an added bonus!

The “firstborn festival” of Palau is the subject of my new article in the end-of-year Passport.
The pictures going with the piece are somewhat explicit, though not by the standards of freelance photojournalist Todd Essick.

For the last issue of Passport for the year, I put together a colourful Shoot It! section on “Festivals & Spectacles.”
In addition to writing the photography advice accompanying the section, I also wrote this month’s spread on post-processing in Photoshop, along with some shots of mine from Yunnan, China and Terengganu, Malaysia.

I put together the inaugural “Shoot It!” photography department in the August issue of Passport, which gave a broad overview of various areas of travel photography.
Among others, professional travel photographers Gunther Deichmann, Colin Monteath and Jürgen Freund contributed some spectacular images.
The department includes various sections written by me on photography fundamentals, picture-taking technique and handling different photographic situations.
